Camouflage Treatment of Skeletal Class III Patient with an Impacted Upper Central Incisor Due to Complex Odontoma
Lee In-Song
Abstract
The incidence of upper central incisor impaction is relatively low, occurring in less than 2% of the general population. The main cause of upper central incisor impaction is the obstruction of the path of tooth eruption which can occur resulting from various reasons such as supernumerary teeth and odontoma. This case report presents the orthodontic forced eruption and alignment of an impacted upper left central incisor due to the presence of complex odontoma in a 15-year-old female patient. The patient also showed Class III malocclusion with anterior and posterior crossbite and it was successfully treated with nonextraction orthodontic treatment using miniscrew-assisted rapid palatal expansion (MARPE).
